The lab notebook that already knows what is on your shelf

Cyzica keeps your protocols, calculators, drugs and genes in one shared library — then builds your experiment records out of them. The arithmetic happens on the record, and giving a controlled substance writes its own logbook entry.

Cyzica is invite only while it is being proved out on real work. If somebody has invited you, the link in your email is what makes your account.

Built for animal work

The large electronic notebooks are built around molecular biology and sample tracking. Weight-based dosing, surgery worksheets, controlled-substance logs and records an IACUC inspector would accept are served badly or not at all.

That is the part Cyzica is built around first. A dose factor gives a volume — a 25 g mouse at ×20 gets 500 µL — and the app says so before you draw it up, warns when the stock no longer matches the factor, and writes the entry when the record is submitted.

What it does

One library your lab shares

Protocols with a version history that cannot be rewritten, calculators you can edit, drugs with real numbers, genes with their primers and cycling programs. Everything else is built out of these.

Experiments composed, not retyped

A template points at what is already in your library. Drop in a drug and it arrives knowing its concentration, its dose factor, and that it owes a log entry. Drop in a gene and both primers and the program come with it.

Arithmetic on the record

Master mix, dose by weight, dilutions, molarity, cell seeding. They run inside the experiment and the record keeps the numbers the bench actually used — not just what was typed in.

A controlled-substance log built to be defensible

Buprenorphine and ketamine keep an append-only logbook. Nothing is ever edited or deleted: a mistake becomes a correction alongside the original, both stay visible, and the whole range exports as a spreadsheet.

Projects on a dated timeline

Milestones with their own notes, files and the person doing them. Progress and dates are worked out from the timeline, so two pages can never disagree about how far along something is.

Sharing that carries provenance

Save a protocol out of a lab into your own library, or send one to a co-worker. Copies remember where they came from, so a library you take with you still says whose it was.

How it is built

Three rules the application is constructed around, rather than promises about how carefully it will be used.

Nothing is readable by default
One piece of code answers every question about who may see what. Not a rule per table that somebody forgets to set.
Quantities are numbers with units
Never text. A concentration you cannot compute with is a concentration that cannot be checked, and 1 mL is exactly 1000 µL everywhere.
Regulated records only grow
The drug log and the audit trail have no edit and no delete, by construction rather than by policy.

Still being built

Cyzica is in active development and this is worth saying plainly: mouse colony management, equipment booking and a phone app are designed for but not yet built. Everything shown above is working today — the clips are recordings of it, not drawings of it.

That is also why accounts are by invitation for now: everybody using it is somebody whose lab we can go and ask how it went.
